Poole's Cavern & Buxton Country Park is owned and managed by Buxton Civic Association Ltd. This charitable trust formed in 1967 to help protect the unique buildings and landscape of Buxton.

Over the last 50 years Buxton Civic Association has acquired ten woodlands which were once part of the Chatsworth Estate. The woodlands were gifted by the Duke of Devonshire to preserve the woods for Buxton residents and visitors to enjoy . The largest woodland, Grin Low which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its unique woodland wildflowers became Buxton Country Park in 1975.

In 1977 BCA acquired Poole's Cavern Show cave which had been closed to the public for over a decade.

Poole's Cavern and Buxton Country Park are managed as a not for profit heritage and educational visitor attraction and amenity woodland open to the public for recreation and enjoyment. The income from our visitors supports our conservation and educational projects. Please help us by Gift Aiding your entry when you visit, and we can claim back an extra 25% tax.
