Visitor's Centre & Cavern Tours
It is starting to feel like summer, the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and we are now open until 5pm.
Our visitor’s centre is the hub for Poole’s Cavern & Country Park. We have car parking for around 80 cars, bike locks for those of who who cycle in and we are only a 30 minute walk from Buxton Town Centre.
Our cafe at the cavern serves light bites & lunch menu from 9:30am daily, alongside home-made cakes and other sweet treats. Breakfasts served until 12pm during holidays and weekends. From our seating area you can enjoy the passing birds as they visit our feeders this summer.
Our gift shop will be packed with local artisan gifts from Buxton Coffee, to hand-painted prints, hand-made jewellery and hand-twisted gem trees. We also have recently started stocking Blue John jewellery.
Cavern Tours are pre-book only. Book your tickets online today, following the links on our website. Regrettably we cannot guarantee entry for walk-ins. Our tours run every 30 minutes, with additional tours running throughout the 6 weeks summer holiday. Please check our website for the latest tours. We ask all visitors to arrive 10 minutes before your slot, to allow time to look at our small exhibition.
More than just a cave
Our Country Park is home to several SSSI wildflower glades and our very own Charlie the Limeburner, soon to be joined by a female companion, so watch this space. Our 100 acre woodland is rich in plant life and wild life, so be sure to bring your cameras when visiting. We also have two sculpture trails; maps available from the Visitor’s Centre.
